Actuators - Performance mile after mile

Haldex is both an industry pioneer and market leader in air brake actuators. Many of the designs and features you have come to expect are Haldex innovations. We continue to set the industry standard for design, reliability and extended product life today and into the future. Haldex developed the first double diaphragm spring brake in the world, and pioneered that technology in Europe.

For more than 50 years, double-diaphragm spring brake actuators have been safeguarding commercial vehicles’ air brakes. By opposing the pressure of compressed air with mechanical spring force, these actuators offer a simple failsafe for both parking and service brakes in case pressure is lost. Although the general idea behind the design has withstood the test of time, the actuators themselves generally have not. A trailer may require multiple replacements during its lifetime, depending on its duty. Because of the uncertainty of the exact lifetime of actuators, as well as the impossibility of inspecting their internal condition, operators must find the right balance between overscheduling replacements that might be unnecessary (consuming workshop time as well as increasing parts bills) or leaving the actuators on the vehicle for too long, running the risk of a failure.
