Last fall Haldex partnered with the Northland Career Center (NCC) who develops a curriculum that educates students in manufacturing, supply chain management, transportation. Helmut Derra, Director of Friction & Reman Operations, presented to approximately 20 Platte County High School (PCHS) students who learned about Haldex manufacturing, research and development, engineering and the overall heavy-duty industry. Students were also given a tour of the Pomona facility by Mark Donnell, Lab Director R&D and had an opportunity to ask questions.
This business/education partnership lead to Haldex being a sponsor of the Platte County High School Robotics team which competed in the VEX World Championship in Louisville, KY in April. Approximately 18,000 high school teams throughout the world competed to attend the championship, with 600 making it to the event. We were thrilled to hear our local team finished in 2nd place!
"Our experience at Vex Worlds was truly unforgettable," PCHS Senior Will Valentine commented, "And we felt proud to represent Platte County at such a high level on a World Stage."
Haldex is pleased to support local students who have an interest in engineering and proud to have Helmut serve on the board of the NCC.
