Haldex granted patent for new spring wire product

Haldex granted patent for new spring wire product Haldex Garphyttan has developed and been granted a patent for a new, highly qualified, stainless wire product: an ESR (Electro Slag Remelted), cold drawn spring wire of type 17-7PH. This wire product, which is marketed under the brand name GARBA 177 Supreme, is used in very demanding spring applications, where resistance to both fatigue and corrosion is required. The main application for the new wire product is in fuel injection pumps for diesel engines and replaces another wire product that Haldex Garphyttan has marketed for this application. The new product is therefore not expected to generate any substantial additional sales, but the development of the product and the gaining of the patent confirms Haldex Garphyttan's position as a world leading supplier of advanced wire products for combustion engines. The Garphyttan Wire division within the Haldex Group is a world leading supplier of wire products for spring applications with exacting demands on surface fineness, fatigue resistance and relaxation properties. The main applications are in combustion engines, for example valve springs, piston rings and springs in injection systems. Haldex is a global supplier of proprietary products for trucks, cars and industrial vehicles, with special emphasis on performance & safety. The Group is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and has yearly sales of 6 BSEK with 4,350 employees. The Group has sales companies in Europe, North & South America and Asia. Production takes place at 9 factories in Europe and 9 in the U.S. as well as in a joint-venture in India.
