Air Suspension

In addition to many other advantages, the air suspension of a trailer offers a constant ground clearance between the road surface and the vehicle body that gives an unchanged height for loading. This also gives smoother transport of goods, no jumping with an empty trailer, and less wear on the road surface. A more stable driving characteristic due to better contact between tyres and road surface. Using air pressure, accurate control of load sensing dependant function is realised.

The number of vehicles with air suspension will increase in the next few years because this system has considerable advantages. According to conservative estimates, some 85% of trucks, 100% of heavy buses 60% of fifth-wheel trailers and 95% of semi-trailers are equipped with air suspension. We will look at the general theoretical principles of air suspension, the design and function of the components and additional control possibilities, e.g. swap-body systems, lift axle controls and special systems to increase ease of operation and safety.
