Haldex product portfolio focuses on brake products and air suspension systems for heavy vehicles. We are market leaders in several product categories, including brake adjusters for drum brakes. Haldex products are rapidly winning market share in other emerging areas, such as our disc brakes, which are recognized for their innovative design. These and other wheel-end components comprise the Foundation Brake product group, while air suspension components, such as ABS, EBS and air dryers, comprise the Air Controls product group.
More than 100 years of innovation: It all started in 1887 with Halda which was making beautiful clocks. In 1916 Axel Djurson founded Svenska AB Bromsregulatorer (SAB) in Malmö, Sweden. The patent for an automatic brake adjuster for trains was filed. Over the years SAB became one of the world's most distinguished and leading suppliers of brake systems for trains. It was in the 1960s that the foundation of what we call Haldex today was laid. In 1962 SAB started a development project to see how they could transform the brake adjuster for trains into road vehicles. There is no doubt that this project was a great success. Today after 50 years, the brake adjuster is still the global market leader with more than 75 million brake adjusters being produced.

The name Grau is reminiscent of Graubremse, a Heidelberg company that, as part of Midland-Grau, merged with Haldex in the late 1990s. The product range of the secondary brands is gradually expanding. Grau currently includes ranging from brake pads to actuators.
