PWS/PWIS

PWS (Pad Wear Sensor = black housing) is a continuous wear sensor that monitors pad wear and provides continuous data to the vehicle system. PWIS (Pad Wear Indicator Sensor = grey housing) is a digital sensor (switch type) that provides a signal to the vehicle system when the brake pads have reached their wear limit and need to be replaced.

The PWS/PWIS should always be set manually to its starting position when changing to new brake pads to compensate for disc wear during each pad change. See section 4.4 of the ModulT service manual for details of installation and adjustment
