Emergency Override

Automatic Emergency Braking is mandatory on all trailers.
In short, for any trailer disconnected from the towing vehicle, the braking system shall apply brakes, with minimum deceleration of 13,5%.

In practice, this is required for this reason :
If trailer mechanical coupling fails or have not been locked, we're happy that the trailer have an Automatic Emergency Braking.

Unfortunately, what we mainly see on the road is the Automatic Emergency braking being applied for other reasons:
- Pipe leakage
- Worn out sealings
- Fitting connection failure
...

Why not having a system that maked the difference between both?

So much cases where you would be happy to be informed, instead of being stopped in the middle of the road traffic.

So much cases where the new Emergency Override will be active!

Because the regulation UN-R13 allows it, and under certain conditions, the EB+ 4.0 with Override option is able to control that.

  1. Checks if all conditions are fulfilled :
    • ISO7638 present?
    • ISO11992 communication present?
    • enough air pressure in the reservoir?
  2. Retain the emergency braking and activate dashboard warning lamp

Then 2 possibilities :

  1. Loss of ISO11992 only (Electronic brake demand) :
    • Apply Automatic Emergency braking using Service Brake, including Load Sensing function and ABS
  2. Loss of any other conditions :
    • Apply Automatic Emergency braking using Spring brake

The animation below highlights the benefit of Emergency Override in the road traffic.

Clear benefit for road safety, save of tyres by preventing unneeded locking of the wheels, keeping the minimum requirements of the UN-R13 regulation.

Going one step further for road and vehicle safety.
